Ange Yake is a Canadian surface designer specializing in digital design. She is an honours graduate from the Crafts and Design - Textile program at Sheridan College, in Oakville, Ontario.
Ange was awarded The Association of Textile Mill Representatives Scholarship, for excellence in innovation, creativity, originality and marketability in a home design collection. In recognition of her Outstanding Academic Achievement, she received the "Virginia Johnson Award" and the "Sheridan College Textile Studio Award". As a Sheridan College Alumni, Ange's textile work was selected for display at the 2007 One of a Kind Show in Toronto. She donated textile pieces to the Sheridan College "Silent Night Auction" and the "Design Hope 2008". Ange completed a one-year Textile Design residency at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre.
Ange has a passion for print and pattern, and designing collections. She is motivated by the unlimited design possibilities that can be created while designing collections digitally. Her inspiration comes from nature, found objects and surface textures. Her primary focus is on Interior Design Products, although many of her patterns would also be well suited to clothing and fashion accessories.
She has a passion for crafting, and a creative eye for detail. In 2010 Ange planned and styled her own wedding. This involved creating a budget, design strategy, and style concepts. She designed everything, from the colour scheme, theme, concept boards, to all personal decor items. To execute her vision of old Hollywood glamour, she hand made over 700 paper flowers. These Eco-friendly flowers styled the tables with centerpieces, the wedding party with bouquets and boutonnieres, and gave the event a strong hand made, yet professional, appearance.
Ange is currently based in Toronto where she lives with her husband and works as a carpet designer at Creative Matters Inc. She is open to the opportunity of freelance design work and custom wedding design.
